If the mirror is attached to the wall with screw clips either notch out the frame to accommodate the clips or remove the clips and attach the mirror to the wall with construction. These types of mirrors are also known as floating mirrors or construction ready mirrors. Cut the corners on the frame square if using plinth blocks or at a 45 angle if mitered. Determine trim style and positioning of trim around mirror to obtain measurements specific to mirror being framed.

Since even before the powder room remodel it seems like such an easy diy that practically anyone could do and makes such a dramatic difference. To adhere the wood to the mirror i used a liquid nail product that is specifically designed for mirrors. Since this frame is floating on not attached to an existing mirror already mounted to the wall a margin of overlap is left to conceal the edge of the mirror. This method works for framing basic mirrors that don t have any kind of rim or frames around them already. I didn t have clips on my mirror but did have a countertop on the bottom to work around i decided to make my boards overlap on top of the mirrror a good bit.
